Designed by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics, this printed cotton fabric is from the Everglow collection.
Everglow My Hippos Don’t Lie in Nova features charming hippopotamuses swimming in a bubblegum pink oasis surrounded by coral fish and colorful birds.
Everglow began as a collection of neutrals and evolved into a full collection of radical colors designed to add depth to the Tula Pink world of fabrics. When she began designing this collection, she was searching for something new to say about color that would still live in her world. The only realm of color that she has never touched on is the world of neutrals. But soft, earthy colors alone wouldn’t stand up to her everyday colors, so she decided to pair their whisper with the loudest scream of color she could create on cloth – neons. Each neon is paired with its corresponding neutral in a light, medium, and dark. With her neutrals and neons in hand, Tula just needed a way to illustrate how to use them. So she added 4 large focal prints in two colors each to tie them all together.
The animals in Everglow are centered around those that would naturally occur in those palettes. She created golden giraffes in “Neck for Days”, blue-grey elephants in “All Ears”, silver hippos in “My Hippos Don’t Lie,” and coppery lions in “Good Hair Day”. Each animal is represented in a more accurate color palette and a contrasting color palette that is otherworldly! The result is 8 mini color palette collections that merge together to create an oasis of rainbow goodness in unexpected combinations.
